The Science Behind Freshness

How FreshLab Works

FreshLab is a bentonite-based, microorganism-activated material that absorbs moisture, reduces ethylene, kills bacteria, and stops mold—without electricity or synthetic preservatives.

The Problem

Why Food Spoils

Fresh produce faces three major threats from harvest to table

1

Bacterial Entry

Bacteria enter through tiny cuts during harvesting and delivery and multiply quickly.

2

Moisture & Mold

High internal moisture lets mold grow and spread from piece to piece.

3

Ethylene Release

Aging fruits and flowers release ethylene gas, which softens tissues and accelerates spoilage.

The Solution

FreshLab's Technology

A unique multi-stage process creates our natural preservation material

01

Natural Composition

FreshLab uses a natural bentonite-based structure created through a controlled multi-stage heating process (around 300°C, 500°C, and 800°C) combining mud/bentonite, microorganisms, and grapefruit extract.

02

Dormant Microorganisms

Heat-resistant microorganisms from volcanic environments remain dormant in the material until it absorbs moisture from produce.

03

Activation & Protection

When activated, they suppress anaerobic bacteria while the structure absorbs humidity and actively reduces ethylene gas.

Four-Way Protection

What It Does in Your Environment

Comprehensive protection against all causes of spoilage

99.9%

Bacteria Control

Eliminates 99.9% of E. coli, Pseudomonas, and Staphylococcus in tests.

100%

Mold Suppression

Stops new mold growth and removes mold already present on produce.

80%+

Ethylene Reduction

Reduces ethylene by about 60% in 6 hours and more than 80% within 24 hours in testing.

Stable

Moisture Regulation

Absorbs excess humidity to create a more stable micro-environment around food and flowers.

Versatile Application

Where It Works

Designed for diverse environments and produce types

Temperature Range

0–40°C

Effective in fridges, transport, cold rooms, and ambient cool storage

Active Duration

30 Days

Each unit stays active for about 30 days and then should be replaced

Compatible Products

Fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, many flowers, and some fresh fish/meat depending on storage conditions.Note: Cut leafy greens are less suitable.

For Business

Simple Monthly Workflow

Integrate FreshLab into your existing operations seamlessly

Step 1

Place

Place Fresh-Pouch in each crate or box, or attach Fresh-Fan in cold rooms.

Step 2

Monitor

Run normal operations; monitor lower spoilage and returns.

Step 3

Replace

Replace units monthly as part of standard inventory routines.
